SURNAMES: WALKER, MASTERS, SASH, KEETON
The first and earliest information that I can find of Isaiah M. WALKER is in the 1860 census for Brown Township in Vinton County, Ohio. Isaiah was living with a family on a farm and was nine years old. The census listed the family as Isaac & Mary SASH along with one son, Isaac Jr. There is no mention of Isaiah's relationship to the Sashs. Since they only had one son, Isaiah would have been a valuable worker on the farm. Isaac's age was listed as 69 and Mary's age was listed as 58. Their son, Isaac Jr., was listed as age 21. It is possible that they may have been Isaiah's maternal grandparents or perhaps they were other members of Isaiah's mother's family. Other evidence would suggest that it is more likely that they were just a family who took in Isaiah as a foster child. This scenario is more likely because of another orphan named Franklin P. WALKER, whom I believe is the brother of Isaiah, is listed just a few pages over from the entry from the Sashs and is listed as living with a the KEETON family. His age is given as 6 years old and he was listed as a "pauper". Isaiah married to Mary MASTERS. (6 FEB 1870) Any help tracing Isaiah, Franklin, & Mary would be greatly appreciated. I can supply additional details if that will help.
